A Rock Heart In Australia’s Hot Springs

Tuesday, May 13th, 2008

I didn’t know Australia had hot springs? Well we do now! Right here in outer Melbourne too! We tried the Penninsula Hot Springs the other day. Metaphorically speaking, more like we were breaking the ropes to try them as soon and as fast as we could get there. They lived up to the images on their website too, we chose the Dine and Bathe. Besides the obvious extremely relaxing benefits, it was actually a lot of fun trying out the different hot pools. One of the hot pools, had these long peices of bamboo sticking out a few feet up above our heads. That poured all this cascading warm water, that massaged our shoulders and sort of felt like it was cleaning out our crown chakras and brow chakras.

Also while driving down there. A title for a new song came to me, called “Rock and Roll Heart”. That had to be instantly written down on a (lol cliché) serviette found in the glove box . Not sure what it has to do with the hot springs? But am very greatful for this name appearing out of thin air. Hopefully the actual song will come to me now, so then I can give it to you.

Friday’s Concert Photo’s

Monday, May 12th, 2008

Going by the ‘A’ guitar chord, this was probably taken during Catherine’s nice ballad called ‘Midsummer Twilight’. Camera caught us all in a very concentrative moment by the looks of things. Note the bathroom in the background. We had a few people from other areas of the library, stop by the bathroom, then upon hearing our playing, deciding to take a seat and listen to our show.

Trio Set List:
1. Dancing In The Mist
2. Midsummer Twilight
3. One Autumn Day
4. Secret Sanctuary
5. My Love
6. In The Light Of Day (just Catherine and Sarah) (their myspace)

Trio in action Left 'Russ, middle 'Catherine Duc, Right 'Sarah Bussutil'

My Solo Set List:
1. Gypsy (Fleetwood Mac - cover)
2. Brand Nu Day (+ video)
3. The Grampians Song
4. Cut Short
5. Junkyard Memories (+ video)
6. I’m Like A Bird (Nelly Furtado - cover)
7. Matthew
8. Pound Bend

Normaly do and much rather stand and perform. However being the nature of this venue and stripping back some songs. Was better to play sitting down.

Thanks To Catherine Duc and Jess From Acoustica

Saturday, May 10th, 2008

If Jess from yesterdays ‘Acoustica At the Library’ is reading this? Then just want to say thank you once again for having us perform at your comfortable venue. Was good to play guitar with Catherine and hear Sarah’s magic violin playing was a good extra lunch time treat. Thanks too Catherine! For asking me to perform.

As alway’s, was good to catch up with Sarah Bussutil again. Although it was only briefly, as Sarah had to rush off to play a private party up in the country with her band ‘The Counterfeit Gypsies’. Then Sarah was going to come rushing back to Melbourne to play a late night gig at the Espy. Busy little beaver….
